Two worlds, totally different in feeling and behaviour, meet in this relationship; but the moral is not quite an obvious one, and perhaps the real hero is not the obvious one either, but rather th elderly black-marketeer who keeps the girl and preserves in the atmosphere of loose morals and dubious speculations a curious integrity.
