The building of Westminster Bridge was an engineering and architectural achievement which has attracted very little attention. Because it was financed by lottery (hence Fielding's acid nickname 'the Bridge of Fools" ) then by annual Parliamentary grants, it falls outside the scope of The History of the King's Works.
